Bloomfield Hills Schools Sticking with Leftist Curriculum

Last year in my post Bloomfield Hills Schools adopts Leftist Curriculum I wrote about how Eastover Elementary School in Bloomfield Hills was going to be adopting a curriculum called "Sustainability Education". The school board passed this curriculum change with little discussion about its merits and considerable mocking of those who disagreed with their liberal agenda.

According to the Bloomfield Hills website, this curriculum will take existing lessons and and slant them with a union and environmental agenda. Instead of having students focus on learning math, science, history, and reading, the common threat of this curriculum will be on sustainability.

Topics will include how the United States has destroyed third world nations by demanding food from them in exchange for money, how to limit choice and make housing more affordable by focusing on sustainable communities, driving energy prices up with government force used to sponsor so-called renewable energy, the limiting of development of natural resources, police powers used to limit the expansion of homes and business in the name of 'land use and urban revitalization', and indoctrination on the need to focus on green building and green design instead of profitability or beauty.

Students will be taught that they should deny their own needs because they are bad people and their bodies are bad and their world is bad (liberal view of the world), and by doing this they will make the future world a heaven on earth for all of those who follow them. The goal is to create meaning out of experiences and create a sense of community, and not learn skills and knowledge that would come in handy with competing with students in China and India.

Read the website yourself- I'm loosely quoting from the bottom section of the district's Instructional Initiatives page. If this kind of thing upsets you, Bloomfield Hills Superintendent is named Steven A. Gaynor, his phone number is 248.341.5407, and his email address is sgaynor@bloomfield.org. I'm sure he'd love to hear your thoughts and questions about this curriculum, and about how you feel it will prepare these innocent students for the future.
