The View from Michigan

Here in Michigan, we've had quite a bit of experience with liberal Democrats, and can see the fruits of their labor. We have Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick of Detroit, Governor Jennifer Granhom, and Speaker of the House Andy Dillon. I've met all of them at one time or another, and have seen their leadership. They remind me a lot of Obama, and if Obama becomes President, the rest of the nation is going to quickly look like Michigan- unemployed, dropping in GDP, low population growth, unhappy, fat, with poor schools, crumbling roads and bridges, and higher taxes. I'm not exaggerating- Michigan is the fattest and has the highest rate of depression!

Now, I don't blame it all on the Democrats who run our state- they control the House and Governor, and are one vote short of the Senate- but I blame most of it on them. Under Republican leadership in the 1980's and 1990's, Michigan had a growing economy, average unemployment, and sunk a lot of money in roads and schools- all while the tax rate was slashed. But for some reason people wanted CHANGE, so they voted in Granhom and liberal Democrats in Congress, and she has spent 7 years supervising a crumbling economy, all while blaming Engler (I'm calling it now- if Obama gets elected, be prepared for a bad economy and terrorists attacks, all blamed on Bush, for the next 8 years).

Case in point- last year, the state government spending grew by 4%, while our economy fell apart. Tax money fell. So Michigan jammed through the largest tax increase in 20 years. Result? Economy fell harder, resulting in lower tax money. Response? More taxes! Result? This time the government had 'extra' money to 'balance' the (4% larger) budget. Result? More government spending! It's laughable, and I get a sad thinking that soon the rest of the nation will join Michigan, if Obama is elected.

Don't do it people- don't elect Obama- we've elected a similar leader in Michigan, and we've seen where that kind of leadership and change and hope can take you!
