Kwame Kilpatrick Was Sent to Jail Today

Democrat Mayor of Detroit Kwame Kilpatrick was sent to jail today for violating travel restrictions that are a condition of his being free on bond as he awaits trial on eight counts of perjury and other felonies. He traveled to Canada and never bothered to inform the judge. The travel restrictions had been tightened last month when Mayor Kilpatrick was accused of assaulting a sheriff's deputy who was serving a subpoena on his convicted felon brother-in-law. Mayor Kilpatrick is a superdelegate to the Democratic National Convention.

In response to this, I sent off the following letter-to-the-editor to several newspapers:

Obama Endorsed Kilpatrick Last Year
In May 2007, Democratic Presidential hopeful Barak Obama gave a glowing endorsement of Kwame Kilpatrick, calling him a a "great mayor" who is doing an "outstanding job." Since Obama has little experience and little accomplishments, his biggest draw is his judgment- here is yet another indication that it is poor. Obama went on to say that Kilpatrick "is going to be doing astounding things for many years to come." Obama sounds like another candidate that will blow us away with his predictions.

It looks like Obama has decided to throw Kwame under the bus too.

Incidentally, does anyone notice that the media never reports the party affiliation of Kwame? He is a Democrat. Another blogger coined the term "Name that Party" to point out that Democrat's are identified as such less than Republicans when facing scandals, and this seems the case here. Others have noticed too, here, here, and here.
