Democrats Openly Defy Constititution and Voters and Name Washington DC a State

Things are spiraling out of control now- apparently, in spite of the fact that voters have several time stated that they don't consider Washington DC a state, the Senate does, and is going to award full voting rights to Washington DC- AS IF IT WERE A STATE. The Constitution clearly says in Article I, Section 8 that DC is not a state, and is simply "the seat of the government of the United States."

In 1978, the District's advocates sent to the states a constitutional amendment requiring that "for purposes of representation" the district would be "treated as though it were a state"- but only 16 states ratified it, 22 short of the required number. Now, advocates shrug their shoulders and poop on the Constitution, changing it by 'informal means' and with the D.C. House Voting Rights Act will give the District a full voting member in the House of Representatives. This is in clear violation of the Constitution.

What is this country coming to? On February 12, 2009, Senate committee voted 11-1 Wednesday to give the District a full voting seat in Congress- that means that 11 Senators voted to disregard our Constitution and act in clear violation of it. Voting rights only go to states- if our country wants to make DC a state, then it gets full voting rights- but if voters don't, then it doesn't- you can't take the law into your own hands and just do it- that's illegal and unconstitutional.

It is the attitude that is being shown that shocks me- it's as if our country has become totally unmoored, and our government now acts in clear violation of the laws as it sees fit. It is a tyranny and lawlessness not seen in this nation since the Founding Fathers, and it is beginning to scare me.
