Interesting- over at The Corner on National Review, they are counting down the top conservative movies. I know this is a partial list, and I will update it as I get to it, but so far I see:
#1 The Lives of Others, #2 The Incredibles, #3 Metropolitan, #4 Forrest Gump, #5 300, #6 Groundhog Day, #7 The Pursuit of Happyness, #8 Juno, #9 Blast from the Past, #10 Ghostbusters, #11 The Lord of the Rings, #12 The Dark Knight, #13 Braveheart, #14 A Simple Plan, #15, Red Dawn #16 Master and Commander, #17 The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, #18 The Edge, #19We Were Soldiers, #20 Gattaca, #21 Heartbreak Ridge, #22 Brazil, #23 United 93, #24 Team America: World Police, #25 Gran Torino
Honorable mention goes to Mars Attacks, where in one scene the hippies start an intergalactic war by releasing the "dove of peace". Interesting notes- Mel Gibson, Clint Eastwood, and Bill Murray are all over this list, war movies are heavily represented, and oddly enough, a lot of these are movies that I show in one of my classes. The top 3 are a surprise to me- I haven't seen most of those, and I am very disappointed that Serenity wasn't in there.
