McCain shouldn't be running from Bush

If McCain loses this election, it is his fault. I was watching another one of his recent campaign commercials (see my earlier blog on this here), and it pissed me off. In this commercial, McCain launches into an attack on Bush, claiming that under Bush our country has gotten worse, and he goes into detail on how he isn't Bush.

It's nice that McCain thinks that Bush is the root of all evil in this world- but isn't that the Democrat line? Why is McCain parroting ideas and policies that have led the Democrats in Congress to an approval rating of 16%, and running as far as possible from approval ratings of 26%? Now, I know 26% isn't great, but it is higher than 16, right? Check out the approval ratings yourself- wouldn't you follow the ideas of the more popular party out there?

Why is McCain fleeing as fast as possible from being associated from a two-term President? No offense to McCain, but Bush was able to defeat two opponents, both of who admittedly weren't top-level, but I consider them higher quality than Obama.

On the radio today, they were talking about messages that work and ideas that seem to be working for McCain. Everything that is working for him is Bush ideas, Bush policies, Bush thoughts. Being tough on defense, being solid on the War on Terror, cutting taxes for everyone, reforming education, expanding energy production, etc- those are the winning messages of this campaign. McCain's ideas- fighting earmarks, believing in global warming, tax breaks for poor people- these ideas gain no traction, and if you like them, there is a real communist out there promoting these anyways to vote for.
