Obama Officially Abolishes Transparency and Ethics

Oh, if only I was making up that title... via the Washington Examiner...

President Obama has abolished the position in his White House dedicated to transparency and shunted those duties into the portfolio of a partisan ex-lobbyist who is openly antagonistic to the notion of disclosure by government and politicians.

Obama transferred "ethics czar" Norm Eisen to the Czech Republic to serve as U.S. ambassador. Some of Eisen's duties will be handed to Domestic Policy Council member Steven Croley, but most of them, it appears, will shift over to the already-full docket of White House Counsel Bob Bauer. Bauer is renowned as a "lawyer's lawyer" and a legal expert. His resume, however, reads more "partisan advocate" than "good-government crusader."

After this, the article goes on to document all of the evidence that the guy Obama now has overseeing ethics and transparency in his administration in fact is against ethics and transparency- notably blog posts by Bauer that mock openness, brag about doing things in secret, advocate naked uses of power, and openly suggest avoiding laws.

So, this should officially dispel yet another myth of his campaign. Overcoming racial divisions was destroyed by his playing the race card and playing racial politics virtually all the time. Instilling hope was destroyed by his policies which contributed to preventing a recovery and extending a recession. Bringing change was proved to be scam when he pushed hard for policies that had been pushed hard for by Democrats for over 60 years- he even brags about how he has finally done things that FDR wanted done- that's not change. Bridging the partisan divide was proved to be a mockery when he pushed legislation through without any votes by the GOP and had conferences with them for the pure intent of lecturing them.

And now he has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that his administration does not even care about ethics and openness, and instead is all about passing bills in secret (healthcare bill, stimulus bill, etc were all passed mostly sight-unseen and unread and were advanced behind backroom dealing) and shrugging off ethics concerns (ie, not looking into the myriad of corruption charges related to selling offices, managing GM, etc). Obama has closed the door on Transparency and Ethics. Let's open the door to the White House and kick him out ASAP.
