Admittedly, I didn't see Obama's speech yesterday in Farmington, and I haven't read any transcripts for it yet. But I did read about it in this article, and have a couple comments about what he said.
One of the things that Obama talked about was how he would help out Michigan's auto industry by using taxpayer money to subsidize inefficient private companies that happen to have a long history of being located in the US. Isn't this corporate welfare?
Here is another comment that I liked from the article: "Hecker, a 34-year-old physics teacher at North Farmington said 'His comments about trying to design the car of the future make a ton offense.'" Seriously- this guy wants to elect somebody President who thinks that he knows how to design a car of the future- even though that's not the job of President! Incidentally, if Obama knows how to design the car of the future, maybe he should- he'd be a millionaire. But like most things about Obama, he is only good at telling other people to do things, and does nothing himself.
Another point from his speech- Obama tried to portray McCain as out of touch by noting that in Flint that the national unemployment rate soared to 6.1percent last month, the highest jobless mark in five years, even as McCain pronounced the nation's economy is fundamentally sound. In other words, Obama thinks that Flint is the nation. If he becomes President, he'll destroy the nation trying to improve Flint, Detroit, Chicago, and other poorly-run Democrat cities.
Lastly, Obama also said "You can't just re-create yourself, you can't reinvent yourself. The American people aren't stupid." Is he talking about McCain... or himself?
